Psalm Journey

I'll continue posting the next step of the Psalm Journey until it is completed... next week! To read any Psalm in full, click on its name. To read other Psalm Sunday posts, click 'The Psalm Journey' tab above. Below I've provided one verse that stood out for one reason or another, and then do a brief reflection on the psalm.

132- "The Lord swore an oath to David,
a promise He will not abandon:
“I will set one of your descendants
on your throne. " v.11

That descendant is our beloved Lord, Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One. Blessed be His Name and Kingdom, forever and ever!

133- "How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!... It is like  the dew of  Hermon which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore." v.1 & 3

I love this Psalm. I saw something I never saw before. "For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore." You see, when kindred live together in unity, that is where the Lord grants life forevermore, his blessing!
134- This Psalm is sung every Wednesday night at my church. So I decided to sing it to you! (Sorry I am sideways! I didn't think about that when I recorded it.)

135- "May the Lord be praised from Zion;  He dwells in Jerusalem.  Hallelujah!" v.21

 Yes, praise the Lord! He is worthy of all praise.

136- "Give thanks to the God of heaven!
        His love is eternal." v. 26
The refrain "His love is eternal" repeats in every verse of this Psalm. It is so central to God, God is love, and it boggles the mind and strengthens the heart to represent the truth.

137- "Happy is he who takes your little ones
and dashes them against the rocks. " v. 9

This is one of the most challenging verses in scripture. But this Psalm is such a poignant example of the human emotion of utter devastation and grief. That is how it should be read.

138- "The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.
Lord, Your love is eternal;
do not abandon the work of Your hands. " v.8

What a comfort! I want to accomplish my purpose for him.

139- "Your eyes saw me when I was formless;
all my days were written in Your book and planned
before a single one of them began. " v.16

This is such a Psalm to cherish! There is so much in it! You should really just click on the link and read it it is so precious.

140- "Let hot coals fall on them.
Let them be thrown into the fire,
into the abyss, never again to rise. " v. 10

This Psalm is about the wicked. This verse makes me think of Romans 12:20 "But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head." which is also in Proverbs.
