Book Review: Short-Straw Bride by Witemeyer

This was an adorable novel! I really enjoyed reading the love story of Meredith and Travis.

As children, they met one fateful day when Meredith, chased on Travis’ land by a bully, got her leg caught in a coyote trap. Compassionately, Travis broke the order of his late father and left his land to take the injured girl home. He became the hero of her childhood fantasies, which she desperately clinged to as tragedy struck her family and she found herself in the household of an aunt and uncle who saw her as more of a financial burden than asset.

So when, as a young adult, Meredith overhears a business colleague of her uncle and potential suitor launch an  arson plot designed to drive Travis and his brothers from their land, Meredith runs away to warn them. This begins a series of adventures that brings this couple together and changes both of them forever.

It was fairly action packed and I enjoyed all the characters. I mean, of course it was a little silly, but it was meant to be a fun read. I really liked it and think I’ll be looking out for more books by Witemeyer.

I definitely recommend this read.

I received this book free from Bethany House in exchange for my unbiased review.
