I Need Your Help

Hey all.

Okay this is the blog post about the blog. What I've been doing, where I want to go and indeed what you want to see. Please comment on this post. Is there some content you want increased?

As for sponsors, seriously I've dropped the ball. I didn't do a sponsor spotlight post this month. I do take sponsorship seriously and won't do it again. As an apology I would like to offer 3 months free sponsorship of any size ad to anyone who contacts me by New Years Day. I will give out large to the first then medium then small. And when I say free I mean free, no swap required (though I still retain the right to refuse ads that don't reflect the image of the Songs on the Way. If y are family friendly you're probably fine though. )

Okay so as for what I've done and where I am going here is what I am thinking. I want to continue with More than this Monday and Thankful Thursday though suggestions about improving them are welcome. I will also do book reviews. I am thinking about starting a blog hop if I can find good fellow hosts. Coming up I am talking about doing the Bible in 90 days challenge. Last year I participated when my friend Kelly hosted it. This year I'd like to co-host if possible.

Wednesdays are crowded. I do yarn alongs some weeks and wedding Wednesday some weeks and there is this in the Word Wednesdays I have been eyeing to join.

Now don't get me wrong, I realize that I am not required to have alliteration in order to blog about a subject. But a schedule helps me have discipline.

At the same time I do want a couple days a month to blog about whatever I want.

So now I am contemplating new ideas. And I am planning a facelift to the blog, so let me know if you have ideas. A blog is meant to be interactive and I want you to always feel your input is welcome.

So now let you tell me my dream. See blogging for me is a passion which I plan to continue for life.
And ultimately I want to be a homeschooling mom. This depends on two things: becoming a mom and having enough financial resources I can stay home with our children.

Part of this can be accomplished by Ryan doing well at his job. And also living frugally, a lot of diy and having the minimum number of vehicles we can get by with. And I can try something like selling stuff whether it be along the lines of Avon or etsy I don't know.

But again blogging is my passion. I will do it if I work or stay at home. And so I was astounded when I saw a blog in the spring asking $250 for a single ad space. Do you know that could pay rent on a nice (but small) apartment here?

Now I don't think I will get so large I charge that much for ads. But maybe I could make that much for all ads total each month?

So that's what I want by the time I have kids... or at least my kids are school age. I am in this blogging thing for the long term.

I think this time last year I had 4 followers on GFC. And none anywhere else. Now I have 224 GFC, 227 on facebook, 193 on Twitter, 118 on Pinterest, 19 on hellocotton, 18 on bloglovin', and 9 on linky...

That is a heck of an increase!

And in all this I don't want to lose sight of the first and foremost reason I blog. I blog for God. I started this blog to reflect Him. And it was He who highlighted this blog as a form of work when I was aching for purpose in the midst of unemployment. He is my boss on here. No matter how "successful" my blog is, I must never lose sight of Him.

So anyway, this is my blogpost about my blog and I honestly want to know: what's your input? Comment below or email me. Love to you all! Tomorrow? The year in review...

  1. First of all, I'd LOVE a sponsor spot for my book if that's possible. I'll send you a picture/link in my email.

Second, I've dropped the ball too when it comes to B90 and getting back to you. Not because I haven't been thinking about it though. I would love to co-host it with you. I'll send you an email about it later today.

As for blogging, I'm kinda in the same boat. I love to blog about writing/my books but I don't seem to get a lot of comments when I do lol. I need to sit down and do a bloggy schedule... AND I need to commit (my 2013 'word' to doing daily posts at 365 again.)

  2. Hi,

I have been following your blog for a couple of months. I visit regularly. I guess what I am most interested in is your move to India, the cultural differences, Indian customs & family life, settling in, etc. since this is reflective of my own experiences. (Not India per se, but living in different countries and cultures).

It is awfully kind of you to offer a free sponsor spot. However, I am a hobby blogger only and there are people out there who need it more than I do. Hence I pass the bucket, but thank you anyway for offering.

    Best of luck with everything.

  3. I also would like more "real life" posts featuring your experiences learning and living as an American establishing herself in India.

I also really enjoy your biblical insight posts (such as the Psalm journey and how God speaks to you), and love to see more. Especially in a series- have you considered doing the same with the Gospels? I would love to read your thoughts on "the biggies" from Genesis and Exodus. That alone would easily make a series!

And lastly, I know you aren't homeschooling yet, or even trying to conceive (need that marriage first!), but your steps on how you plan to get there, and where/how you educate yourself on being an educator would be very insightful and even inspirational.
