No, no one is asking you to get rid of your lung. However, that was the situation that one young mother faced when she was diagnosed with a rare cancer, mesothelioma. Heather had to have a life saving, but scary, surgery where they removed her left lung on February second, eight years ago.
Since then Heather and her husband Cameron, along with their family and friends, have celebrated lung leavin' day where they ask participants to embrace facing their fears. As Cameron says "Each year, we gather around a fire in our backyard with our friends and family, write our biggest fears on a plate and smash them into the fire. We celebrate for those who are no longer with us, for those who continue to fight, for those who are currently going through a tough time in their life, and most importantly, we celebrate life! "
Cameron and Heather would love for you to embrace your fears and join them in celebrating the 8th annual Lung Leavin' Day with their interactive website. It's actually pretty adorable and fun! I checked it out and participated in smashing my fears with them. On it Heather tells her story in a personal way and I do encourage you to visit.
So why don't you learn about Heather's story and accept the challenge to face your fears and smash 'em?
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7
