11 Months!

I have been working on this post for three weeks, updating it and such. I realized, with less than a week to her first birthday I should stop updating it or I would both never get it published and it would be a 12 month post instead of an 11th. So her milestones are accurate as of probably the tenth of May, she's actually achieved more currently.

Guess who took her first steps?!

On the day she turned 11 months, Dreamer took her first step! So exactly three months from beginning to crawl. And now she's taking a half dozen steps easily before falling. The reason I've not blogged much lately is basically due to chasing after her.

She's now got FIVE words. We were pretty sure she was starting to speak at the end of nine months, but I became sure within a few days of my 10 months post. She now says "yeah" "no" "cat" "Daddy" and the latest is "hi." She's not consistent with any of them, but she's used each contextually appropriately so we know she's understanding it. She's also constantly babbling, a very talkative baby.

I've been calling her "pre-toddler" for a while, though I guess now with her actually toddling, maybe she's actually a toddler. I'm not sure I'm really ready to say that. But she's got opinions and she gets mad when I don't agree with them. Like fling her body in all directions or sob really hard. With real tears. Or fake tears sometimes, until she realizes I'm not fooled and then she just stops. Yes, she throws tantrums over the important things. Like me telling her she's not allowed to play with electrical cords or stick her dirty diaper in her mouth. You know, important things.

Most of the time though she's a delight. I swear I love her more everyday.

We've joined a playgroup I found through ex pat connections. Dreamer is a very shy baby but the first session we went to she immediately warmed up. The other moms there don't actually believe me that she's shy even though elsewhere in life she still cries if people try to touch her. I think the other babies and toys make her happy.

Our playgroup; I didn't mention any intention to put this on my blog so I have blurred faces except Dreamer and I

She likes stuffed animals now, she used to be too young for them. Her favorite is a stuffed donkey. She continues to like hard plastic toys. Her favorite game is peekaboo. She likes books but has to be in the mood; I have found putting a pile in front of her and asking her to pick one and give it to Mommy to read makes her more engaged.

She's eating so much more now though we're still happily breastfeeding. Most meals we eat we can give her at least some of it, or slightly modify it. She still loves the food that she can feed herself the best, like bits of toast.

We've had some issues with biting, but she seems to be improving. She really does try her best to listen.

it's exhausting being a pre-toddler
We're just enjoying her immensely!
