This is just a quick thought to ponder that I am currently pondering:
"Lead me not into temptation"
This, as I am sure most of you know, is a line from the Lord's prayer, Jesus' prayer he taught the disciples as an example of how to pray.
In one of the epistles it's made very clear that God tempts no one. But due to our own bad desires we do get tempted. But today I was hit with the realization that if Jesus told us to pray to not be lead into temptation and we know that God is a good Father who doesn't give a snake when we ask for a fish why are we tempted so often?
The most obvious and more convicting for me is that if we're tempted we're most likely not being led by God. We've followed our Selves and strayed off the narrow path and need to cry out like a lost child in a crowd who realizes they are parted from their parent and I do believe He will be faithful to help us, as He's a good father.
The second thought is sometimes we're led near a temptation because God has a sovereign plan to His glory. For example maybe you are a former drug addict God has cured and you are reaching out in ministry to current addicts and every once in a while you face temptation to sample the vice. But I think in a situation like that the verse comes to mind is that in every situation there's an escape. Sorry, I am typing this quickly during Dreamer's nap so I don't have time to look it up. Additionally I do know the Bible says we'll be tested and to keep that in mind...
Love to you all and happy pondering. I'd love you to add your thoughts below!
