Do not be afraid

God's been teaching me about fear lately. Well really that's been a theme for a while, but one that came up again today in Bible Study.

I really feel like I need to, and I will, ruminate on what He's been sharing and share a more in depth post with all of you.

But in the meantime I want to just share an amazing insight that was new for me:

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." - Hebrews 2:14-15 (emphasis mine.)

Jesus came to save us and set us free.... from fear! That's not to diminish the rest of the gospel, but we need to hear this more! We need more emphasis from this!

Death is the wages of sin, so fear of death is the root of most of our fears, that is, fear of something that will destroy and ruin. Whether that's a literal fear of death or a fear of a social death or fear that something we love will be destroyed... something. We fear so often, but Jesus came to set us free from fear!

Do you know what the most common commandment in the Bible is? Including the Old Testament chock full with the 613 mitzvahs: Do not be afraid,

Do not be afraid.

Through Christ, we can be and we are freed from fear.

I know I'll write more about this in the future, but for now let me end this by thanking Him who frees us:

367- sprouts
368- stir fry
369- towels
370- reminders
